Courtesy Car 396-8500

Getting home safely is often the last thing people think about when planning an evening out. Fortunately it’s very much on the minds of restaurateur/entrepreneurs Bruce Drake and Brian McCarty. And when these guys see a need, they do something about it.

In 2008, their Bluegrass Hospitality Group put the BHG Courtesy Car on the road, to give the patrons of their Lansdowne restaurants the option of a ride home.

“We pull out all the stops when it comes to customer satisfaction, so we really go over the top when it comes to customer safety,” said co-owner Brian McCarty.

The BHG Courtesy Car was hit from the day it was introduced. So much so that Courtesy Car service is now available Tuesday through Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to close at all Bluegrass Hospitality Group restaurants in Tates Creek, Palomar and Hamburg.

In fact, Bruce and Brian have gone even further. Now not only will the BHG Courtesy Car drop patrons home – it will also pick them up. All they have to do is call to 396-8500 to schedule a pickup. (People who know this hospitality-obsessed duo know this kind of attention to detail is pretty much par for the course. What do you expect from two guys who, for instance, previewed hundreds of salt and pepper shakers before settling on the perfect pairs for each of their restaurants?)

“It’s nice to know the Courtesy Car is there if my friends or I need it”, said Angie Ornstein, a frequent habitué of Drake’s, the newest BHG venture in Lansdowne, next to Malone’s. “It’s a smart idea, and tells me these guys care about me as a person, not just as a customer.”
