About the Opportunity

Now a $200m enterprise, and as we continue to expand our presence in our markets, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Finance Director to lead our finance & accounting functions. This is a new role and will report directly to the Founders.

To be successful in this role, the Sr. Finance Director will provide assessment & analysis of financial results, strategic contributions, and effective risk management in support of our restaurant operations.  This role will demand a strong, focused, emotionally intelligent action-driver who wants to make an impact.   Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, business acumen and exemplary integrity are must haves. 

The successful candidate will be a discreet, self-driven professional with strong financial and business management experience including strong strategic, financial, analytical, and operational skills.

Essential Roles/Responsibilities

  • Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Directs and coordinates financial affairs according to financial principles and government regulations.
  • Evaluates performance by identifying Key Performance Indicators, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
  • Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  • Provides analysis and commentary on financial results to identify trends and key drivers.
  • Identifies and assesses financial risks facing the company, develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial risks and maintain appropriate insurance coverage to protect the company’s assets and operations.
  • Develops the financial well-being of an organization by providing financial projections and accounting services, preparing growth plans, and directing staff.
  • Develops, directs, and provides financial analysis of operations by evaluating trends, studying revenue opportunities, establishing critical measurements, accumulating resources, and resolving problems.
  • Manages the company’s cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability, develop and implement strategies to optimize cash flow and working capital and monitor and analyze cash flow forecasts and variances.
  • Manages the company’s banking relationships and cash balances, oversee the capital structure of the company, and optimize the cost of capital.
  • Supports the evaluation of and recommends financing options to support the company’s growth initiatives.
  • Evolve, promote & reinforce our culture, mission, vision, and values both internally and externally as a Community leader.

Essential Characteristics

  • Must be a strong communicator and facilitator, including the ability to communicate complex concepts and strategies in a clear and concise manner to diverse stakeholders with diverse interests.
  • Must have exceptional emotional intelligence and be a confident, self-directed problem solver.
  • Must be a creative thought partner with the ability to “roll up the sleeves” to play a key role in the financial, and strategic leadership as the business evolves and grows over time.
  • Must be a strong decision maker and have a track record of taking ownership of and driving key initiatives. 
  • Must have an uncompromising commitment to service & operational excellence.
  • Must have integrity and be approachable, respectful and instill confidence and trust in his/her ability to handle complex and sensitive financial and personal information both internally and externally.

Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in business administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years financial management experience and/or training
  • Management experience in a corporate environment is preferred.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry is a plus.
  • Strong people skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate with equal effectiveness across a broad demographic base of employees, stakeholders & customers.
